Writer's Block: Friends and acquaintances

This is one of my top problems. I cannot tell when someone is just an acquaintance or someone is a good friend. I think everyone is my good, good friend. This has resulted in a lot of drama especially when I attempt to count on acquaintances as though they are a true friend.
When does a acquaintance cross the line into friendship? I don't know. I'm still learning that. I call everyone I know "my friends." As I understand it, this moment occurs when both parties exchange sincere communication.
I have an acquaintance who I think has been working on crossing the line. I am really delighted because it has been a long time since I've made real friends--the kind that didn't have alterior motives. Especially friends who weren't online.
PS I love that this Writer's Block automated entry misspelled acquaintances in the subject line. I corrected it.
