I never did make my OOO SPOILERS CONTAINED HEREIN POST because I'm lazy. Everyone else had made theirs.
My entry would basically be a retrospective in which I discuss why I got into the series, involving fabulous RPs with fabulous RPers (the BEST RPers in the fandom, I'd dare say and not be wrong in saying so), and random silliness with friends. Oh and the movie Dumbledore. Which would lead into me talking about why I think Dumbly rocks the house. And then I would go on about how, while sad, the last book (HBP) was great! And how this book is great too. I'd go on to explain that Harry's feelings toward the Dman while a bit less mature than my own are similar. And then I'd make an LOL aside in which I say I do not like Old Men in a romantic way. And I might also make some sort of comment about my husband being awesome and maybe make a little bit on the risque side so as to make people uncomfortable that I discussed my personal life so openly. It's always about sex, isn't it? Then the entry would derail for a while until I finally got back to saying I liked the book and then make some absurd spoiler-esque comment about the last chapter. Everyone else did, why can't I?
But alas, I don't feel like doing it now. My entries wouldn't be nearly as fascinating as some of the others I've read. Actually all of the others I've read. Suffice it to say that while being silly in some places, I enjoyed the last book.
Yesterday was an awful day for me. I usually work 5 hours days at my new job. It's supposed to be a part time job so that I can mostly be a housewife, which is what I want to do, but on the side I can still contribute to helping haul us out of debt since I helped sink us into it in the first place. However, Saturdays are my 10 hour days. They are awful.
For those of you, which would be nearly all of you, who aren't familar with the area. I live in Oak Ridge. It's a small East Tennessee town that is out of the way a bit. They developed Plutonium for the Bombs dropped on Nagasaki and other parts of Japan here. They still do some or other with nuclear some such at the power plants. I don't really know or care what they do. I don't want to know because we're going to be living here for a few more years and knowing will only make my worry and grow grey hairs faster. Anyway, Oak Ridge was chosen for two reasons in the 50s. 1) It was surrounded by mountains and trees so it was well protected from the elements. 2) It was out of the way from the well beaten path.
So that means if we don't have in town, you'll need to drive 20 minutes down the road to Knoxville, Tennessee. Talbots, my new employer, is in Knoxville. Unfortunately, in May we had a sinkhole open up in the middle of the Parkway that travels from Oak Ridge to Knoxville. The way back is clear, but in the fast lane a hole opened up. They spent several weeks patching it up. However, the road hasn't been the same since. Every time it rains, the center starts to sink. Yesterday when I drove by, there was a nice koi pond sized pool of water in the center of the road. That lane has been closed down for the past week. It made me late to work on Monday. And it has made a drive that should be 20-25 minutes long, take an hour. I have to be at work by 6 pm so I've been leaving my house at 4:30.
So yesterday was my 10 hour day. I worked from 6 pm - 11 pm on Friday. Saturday started at 9:30 am and went to 8 pm. I got up at 7:30 and left around 8 am. I was there for 10 hours plus a 1/2 hour lunch and by the end of the day I was so exhausted I was feeling sick. If you've ever been that tired, it is no fun at all.
As a result though, I made Sloppy Joes with Chilli. They weren't that great. I also tried to make a cake and make too make and ... that wasn't fun.
Last week I had to go into Wal-Greens to acquire some feminine products. I was given the choice of the smaller, less obvious package at a price of $4. Or I could go with the mondo huge box with twice as much and three sample products for $6.50. Being on a budget, I went for the mondo huge box which made out of cardboard vs the small, discrete plastic bag version. As I walked up to the counter, I got in line behind three foreign exchange students. I was in Knoxville in one of the more affluent neighborhoods (hence going to Walgreens instead of the cheap, staple Wal-Mart). And these girls were proceeding to have a conversation in French, while I stood there with my huge box of feminine products looking like some kind of Nascar advertisement for Always products. At least, I was purchasing for myself. As it turns out, it never fails that when you are buying for someone else, there is a price check or else only the largest box with the biggest print is left in stock. Or... ya know, you're watching TV with your dad and a commercial with a demonstration airs.
Then yesterday I end up in Wally World shopping with my sister. She needs to purchase something along the same nature. So we find ourselves in the aisle with a lot of the products everyone uses from time to time, but don't like to advertise due to the private nature of the use, such as Gas X or Beano... or Rogaine for Women. And my sister proceeds to make these jokes in a louder than needed voice about do I "want to get the Rogaine for Woman?"
And that "Equate is the cheaper version." And since she cares she'll chip in to buy it for me, but only the Equate because she doesn't love me enough for $40 Rogaine. Which is all so funny LOL now that I'm at home. But it was definitely one of moments in which your patience is tested and stretched while it is happening. lol
Reminds me of the time that my sister and I were playing with a whoopie cushion in the toy section and squeezed it in the aisle my mom was in and then left her when everyone turned their heads. And she says "Oh that was my girls, they're playing with a Whoopie cushion," only to turn around and not find us there.
Lastly, even though I was the last to finish reading the DH out of the folks on my Flist who bought it on Friday, I take comfort knowing that I am faster than everyone else that I've seen around carrying it around. Not really take comfort, but it makes me feel a little bit better. It also makes me want to shout out random spoilers like... "Snape dies after he turns into a vampire bat." Or "Just wait until you meet Albus Severus Potter." "Kreacher cooks Harry a lovely homecooked meal." "Snape loves Lily Potter!" Of course yelling out "DOBBY DIES!" wouldn't surprise anyone. Cuz who would believe such lies to be canon truth.
I can't wait until Tuesday. Then the vacation starts! YAY!
My asthma keeps acting up! What's up with that?

Date: 2007-07-30 05:02 am (UTC)Really? I miss them too. I miss hanging out with the cool kids and doing RPs. I miss laughing so hard it hurt. But who has the time? Alas. Sigh.
