Job Hunting funz
Friday, May 25th, 2007 02:48 pmWhat is with human resource departments lately? It's so hard to get a callback. And it's not like they are handing out their numbers either.
With Brinks, they called once and left a message. I called them back for a week straight, leaving messages and never got a call back. I called at different times in the day, to make certain that I wasn't calling during lunchtime. Finally, I called right at the end of the day when I was certain to find people at their desks getting ready to leave. The rep said that she didn't have that information any longer, but that she would call me back when she did have it which would be at the end of the next week or the first of the following week. Of course, she never called. But after all the trouble with getting ahold of her, I decided to start looking around just in case. So by the time she was supposed to call and didn't, I had an interview with this second company.
Well with this second company, I had an interview on a Monday. Unfortunately the rep had a death in the family over the weekend so we rescheduled for Wednesday. Wednesday she decided to take off as well. So we rescheduled for Friday. On Wendesday, I get a call from Brinks. It's the other HR rep whom I had tried to call and got no answer during the week of calling. She calls and acts all huffy because they called me a month ago and they usually call a leave a message to see how interested the candidates are in the job. Well I did call back and was told that information was unknown and that I would be called back when it was known. So I was a little put off by her blaming me for not calling and now rushing to get me to agree to start a new job in three days. Because they needed to know by FRIDAY if I wanted the job and then class would start on Tuesday. I had to turn them down so that I could follow up with this other interview, not to mention I just felt she was being rude without knowing the full story. There was no way for me to prove what I was saying and apparently the other rep did not document my application at all. But I had called back.
Anyway, I went to my Friday interview and things went alright, I thought. The rep wanted me for Customer Service, but my availability wasn't open for the CS slots so we were thinking Sales. We ended with she was going to check into the schedules and see if they could be changed a little and then have the other rep call me on Monday. Monday came and went, I let it pass in case it was a busy Monday or whatever. I let Tuesday come and go. Then Wednesday and Thursday were casual days because Matt was off so I didn't really think about it until after 5 pm. So I call on Friday to find out what's going on. The rep who was supposed to call doesn't know anything about what I'm talking about and the rep I interviewed with is not in her office. So now I'm waiting on another callback. Sigh.
Time to look for more places to put in my application.
