So ROFLcopter to the "new" discovery. Or should I say, the new Discovery channel special show.

The "New" Discovery!

So there's a filmmaker claiming that he's discovered the bones of Jesus. This would contradict that Jesus was resurrected after three days and ascended to heaven. It would contradict that Jesus died on the cross altogether. For these remains they've found are said to Judas, son of Jesus, and Mary Magdelene, and possibly Jesus himself. These are family burial grounds is the claim.

This would then nullify a few things. Firstly, the remaining disciples, well they all died horrible deaths. A lot of people wanted to shut the disciples up. So they were threatened with heinous deaths. Peter was crucified upside down because he didn't feel worthy to die in the same manner as his savior. Look up how these men died. Whatever reference material you'd like. Your choice. I don't want you to feel that I'm clouding you from the truth. You have to ask yourself if you were lying about someone rising from the dead, would you allow yourself to be crucified for it? All you have to do is say that you're lying. Publically admit you weren't telling the truth and there's no need to kill you. Honestly, which one are you going to do? Logically which one would you pick?

Now if you believe, if you know with a 100% certainty the Jesus rose from the dead, if that truth meant that your family would be taken care of, if that made the Scripture true and thus all things that happen to those who believe will work themselves out for good in the end, if you had that kind of reassurance, would you then have no worries about maintaining that your words are true? Would you deny the truth after that? We've all seen Hollywood movies, isn't that the stuff that good movies are made from?

This also nullifies the claim that a Church was built on the tomb Jesus was buried in. Now this is likely. The Church was built approximately 325 years later. I only point this out so as to provide perhaps some interesting research points. And to dispute claims that the Church in the 1500s voted on everything that should be remembered about Jesus.

Oh I would also suggest doing some research on the Dead Sea Scrolls if you think the Bible was voted on by the Church in the 1500s. The Dead Sea Scroll presentation is extremely fascinating and well worth visiting if it comes to a town near you.

That's my slightly apologetic post for the day. It's not as good as C.S. Lewis, but one can only practice to improve one's skill.

Unrelatedly, I'm getting a little disappointed by the Plugged In movie reviews lately. I saw Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls last week. While I agree with the summary about the movie, it ends as though the movie isn't worth watching. I agree that it does send the wrong message, but I also thought it was powerful and worth discussing. Still, Plugged In is a review for FAMILY viewing and that is definitely not a family viewing movie. It's adult and teen supervised viewing. A lot of things unclarified in that movie would not send the right message.

Also bought One Night with the King. I spent more than I would have liked, but I find peace with the decision to purchase it knowing where I bought it. This movie is fantastic! It's the story of Ester. While it is a little bit off from Scripture, it is only in the fine details. And the story itself holds its message. I will say that I got a little confused at the end. I knew what was going to happen, but the movie didn't flow as well. There wasn't a lot of dialogue. Just lots of music and scene change. Still it was great!
