Oh man, and I watch the news obsessively! I think I may have heard about the attack, but not what happened or anything. The focus has been so much on SCOTUS and the hurricanes that they rarely talk about other things.
If anyone could say that politics and the news is their religion, it would be you! No doubts on that. Or maybe that rather than being a fan of celebrities, you're a fan of politicians.
I'll talk about this a little later. I'd like to hear from so more people on what happened.
But late August, there were 3 RPGs fired at a US ship docked in Jordan (won't give away the name/names just yet). It flew over the bow, exploded into a hospital and killed a Jordanian by nearly decapitating him with shrapnel. Another hit an empty warehouse and a third landed in a mostly empty field.
There were 7 RPGs found in the warehouse from which the first three were fired. This was the first terrorist attack on Jordanian soil. The King of Jordan who had been in that region of Jordan just three days before, returned to attend the funeral of the Jordanian.
The ship/ships departed shortly after the attack, stationed some Marines to guard the stuff that we left behind and guard the ports, and sent some recovery (smaller) boats to get the equipment. It took nine days for everything to be recovered.
I don't remember hearing any of this in the news. I remember it was a blip on the news about the second attack like that in Egypt in 2000.
