Not quite the USS Cole, thank God!

Talk about giving a girl a heart attack. I'm at work and just had to take a few moments to compose myself after reading this one. Not since the Cole, huh?

So, yes, duh, my brother is on the ship. The USS Kearsarge. That really freaks me out. I'm fiercely proud of my Marine, but if he's going to go down, I want him going down fighting, not a sitting duck in a ship. Now I know I'm completely over reacting and a co-worker said he doubted that it would have pierced the hull, but that's still enough to have my heart in my stomach.

But you know, if Dub weren't so busy trying to get oil out of the Middle East (which we're really reaping those benefits yessiree, check out how those gas prices have plummetted for the US) and just brought the troops home, I'm sure those guys would leave us alone.

Oh Bas, we want the troops after the terrorists and not in Iraq. This attack was in Jordan, silly!
Oh right! Because backing out of Iraq wouldn't create some kind of terrorist black hole or anything.

Thank God he is ok! So you basically just read the story and saw his ship name? That is terrifying!

Thank God indeed. Praise the Lord. Dance a little dance. And I will be even more undignified than that.

Not quite like that. My dad sent the link which he had been sent from his cousin. Although he didn't say "THIS RELATES TO YOUR BROTHER" which would have been nice.

It's really not so much terrifying (take that terrorists!) since we know he's a Marine and he's off to war and we all know that his job by default puts him in the line of fire. But it is disturbing and threatens to set off prematurely that whole coping with a loss mechanism.

Has anyone heard from him yet? Sometimes, even if you know everything is OK, it helps to hear their voice.

No. But he doesn't have my cell phone number. And being overseas, he calls when he's near a phone not neccessarily when someone is at home who could answer the phone.
