Just waiting for your turn to talk?
Sunday, November 14th, 2004 12:56 pmI don't know how many times I've said this. This society doesn't like to listen. It's not just Americans. It's the entire world, but it is more prevalent in the States. We just don't listen. I'm finding more and more when I think I've been listening to someone, it turns out no one was listening when I take my turn at speaking. It's kind of disappointing when you think someone was asking for your opinion and they really just needed you to reaffirm that their logic wasn't flawed. This is why I hate neo-conservatives. They are filled with anger and hatred and need other people to justify their hatred. Just do something to prove their point. They won't try to analyze your actions any other way than to justify how they felt.
I have been feeling like I can't talk to people lately because they aren't listening to what I'm saying so I've been writing in my journal, but I don't think people are reading my journal either. It makes me want to avoid people, my friends, in general. I listen to the best of my abilities. I try very hard to see your side of things. Can you not do me the same courtesy? Obviously you can't and lately I haven't been in the mood to hold hands and help people to see my side. 51% of the country doesn't care about my point of view so while I have said that I will continue in my pointless cause of spreading my pointless view, I hadn't expected to have to bring my friends up to par too. I'm debating whether or not I want to actually give examples. The fact is that I don't want to single friends out. I love them all. In some cases, it's normally not my place to say something, but my opinion was asked and given. In other cases, media lies have turned my friends into hate filled vessels.
I received a forward the other day that was a transcription of a radio broadcast that Paul Harvey had given. I really like Paul Harvey, but he was urging Christians to stop being so passive about their religion. The problem is that aethists and other religions got tired of being so passive so they said something. Well now the Christians are tired of not saying something. We don't have a passive group in this nation. We never will for it is the destiny of mankind to continue to fight with each other. I was talking to my sister last night--and how sad is it that I can have an in-depth conversation with a 14 year old, but some of my friends won't listen to anything I'm saying--and we concluded that survival of the fittest is now the natural state of man. Being in conflict will forever be our natural state in this world. We are over-populated and whenever a species is over-populated conflict and survival of the fittest takes over. Animals that would normally band together in a society to take care of each other will now fight for their piece of the pie. We're doomed because the majority of the population will not rise up and realize this. So we'll continue to have gang wars in Africa, the US will continue to not care about the Arabs and think they aren't even human, the Arabs will continue to equate the US with Israel and the Iraqis with Palestinians, and I'll continue to fret that we're slowly turning into neo-Nazi-conservatives full of hate and taking over the world with our perfect society, our form of communism, only we happen to call ours "democracy." Too bad we left out the part about capitalism.
Go back to the sleep to the rhythm of the war drums.

And I'm turning off comments because it doesn't matter. My email address is in my LJ info.
