AVB is no longer my trance god, but he sure is cute
Tuesday, June 15th, 2004 02:46 amOMG how could I ever forsake my first love? Ok so not my first love, but how could I forsake it? The wonder that is trance techno so elevates me. The trouble with trance is that it is not meant to be listened at a low volume. It ruins the music and actually makes it quite annoying. But heard at a decent volume, it moves you. I really couldn't possibly describe it without sounding completely stoned. PLUR, babes. It is so PLUR. I love this shit so much! So much. Beat me for ever forsaking it. Mood is lifting, I'm moving on. It is exactly the same as when I attempt to forsake DDR. I love that game so much, but sometimes I get caught up in the whole having to drive to play it.
I was going to also mention how crazy fans annoy me, but I don't actually feel like it now. Gah, Trance moves me. I feel so much better listening to Trance. Progressive Trance in particular as I'm not a huge fan of Vocal Trance, but honestly Trance of any sort. Trance, trance, trance. It reminds me of some great things.
1. Driving to Parris Island to see my brother and driving home with him asleep in the back of the car.
2. Sydney and Rhys setting up raves. Sydney in his element setting up equipment and doing things just so he'd look hard at work. Rhys showing off his mad poi skillz. I so enjoy poi.
3. Driving to Florida to visit my dad.
4. It reminds me of when working at ClientLogic was not only bearable, but when it was fun. When I had friends who worked there. I miss those friends. I miss those three years of my life. But I remember the good times with a great fondness. Clint Agnew drawing me pictures from the movie Bones even though he'd never seen it and only heard me describe it. The joy when I first discovered Harry Potter and started reading the books and would explain to everyone around me what was happening.
5. And it gives this amazing sense of movement and going somewhere, traveling without moving. Which is of course the reason for its name: Trance.
6. It gives me great sense of well-being. Everything will be ok. You aren't the only one out there. I imagine ravers and a DJ all plugged into the music. I imagine the perfect rave even having seen imperfect raves.
I love this music. I think it makes me overly optimistic to the point of nearly being annoying. It fills my heart with this joy that I want to explain and find there aren't words to describe it. And I would tell you to listen to it, but then you wouldn't hear what I hear anyway. It took me a while of just listening to it over and over again before I could hear what I hear now. I used to be a cynic like my brother about it and say its the same beat again and again. There are similarities, but to truly appreciate trance, you need to listen to a great DJ play a set. The mixing of one, two or even three songs together flawlessly is a wonder to hear. It's the little nuances and even now I only comprehend small portions of it. I'm such a noob.
I went walking at the park today!
