Birth Days!
Sunday, April 4th, 2004 04:38 pmHappy Birthday, Julien! 9:19 pm on Saturday, April 3, 2004, 22 hours after his water broke, Julien decided to grace the world with his presense. We think maybe it was more like her body decided it was time. He only has 24 hours from the time the water breaks to come out on his own at the birthing center, 36 hours from that time at the hospital. The nurses (there were no doctors because this was a birthing center. doctors are overrated. They only catch. Nurses do all the other work in the hospital and with a low-risk pregnancy, there is no need for a supervisory doctor) think that he did not want to come out. Her labor and contractions were on and off for about 13 hours after her water broke. Probably because the baby's head was not pushing on her cervix and causing it to open through contractions. He came out posterior. Which is not the same as breeched. Most babies will come out face down which projects the round part of their head out. Julien came out face up, meaning that the obtuse part of his head had to be pushed out. The little brat. I've got much more to write about, but they are home now and I'm going to go visit.

She did not enjoy the sounds at all. Too bad the battery died at the very moment his head emerged. So we see his head starting to peak out and then bloop. They didn't have a plug so we missed the best parts.
