Updates are fun and made of awesome!
Friday, November 9th, 2007 07:55 pmThe puppy is growing bigger and bigger all the time. At night, he sleeps on my head. Well at the top of the bed on top of my pillow above my head. Or snuggled up to my head. He's a whiny little puppy though. Constantly making these grumpy whiny sounds. I knew German Shepherds were talkers, but I didn't expect this! His ears are standing up just fine now and he's twice the size he was when we got him. At least twice.
Oh and the obnoxious crying and freaking out thing has been minimized though he still does it.
The concert was awesome. I knew it would be I had huge expectations that Tobymac had no hope of meeting. Relient K and Switchfoot were off the hook because I didn't expect anything of them. So of course they passed with flying colors.
Relient K is still my favorite. They are my Blink 182 replacement. I loved Blink182 with much devotion, but their lyrics became depressing rather than punkish and the silly was always flavored with much cussing. That part has become tired to me. I don't want it permeating my music. I find that when I listen to that, I start to copy it. It isn't a trait I want to emulate. Relient K has all of the sounds of Blink 182 without being utterly depressing and/or foul. Matt Theissen is just plain adorable. Kind of in a younger brother sort of way. He was singing " Who I Am Hates Who I've Been" and had the keyboard switched over from the previous song "Sadie Hawkins' Dance." So it starts out with this "Wah" sound. He starts cracking himself up and they had to stop the song and restart it because he couldn't remember what he was singing from the laughing. My husband is convinced that the drummer was not wearing a shirt. I think he was, but I guess the world will never know.
Sadly my favorite song was not played, but then I didn't expect them to play a 12 minute long song. Also fan signs were recognized which I thought was really nice. Tobymac didn't recognize signs and as a result our view was obstructed for the majority of several songs.
Switchfoot was really awesome! If you are a huge fan. Since I'm not, I just enjoyed the show. They sang Happy Birthday to a fan. She got to come on stage and play an instrument for a song. They had a radio contest to be on stage. They also recognized signs including one that say "Chuck Norris listens to Switchfoot." Though they did question the validity of the statement. The lead singer even jumped down into the audience and sang a whole song in the audience. The cool part about that was that he was singing it in the same row where we were about 10 feet over in the middle aisle (we were on the end). So that was really nice for the fans, he even posed for pictures and took a picture for an audience member. I just wish I was a big fan so I could have been squealing like a fangirl. Still it wasn't a letdown. In fact it was great fun.
And then there was the song they wrote to play together which was awesome live, but just kind of ok on the "album" version. Matt Theissen did a lot more harmonizing live than he does on the album version.
