Hello again!
Friday, February 23rd, 2007 04:21 pmFor Valentine's Day we went to a dinner concert in Sweetwater, TN. It was catered by the cafe two doors down, Hunter's Cafe. We're having a hat club meeting there some time in the spring. There was dinner music which had an Italian theme to it. Classical type music. I enjoyed it. It was a four course meal that was delicious. Then after dinner, there was a lovely concert performed by our hostess. I really enjoyed her singing.
So for Saint Patrick's Day they are going to have an authentic Irish band to perform. I want to go to that.
Still job searching, but not really. I want to get everything in the house done. Finished. Perfecto. I just don't want to look for a job, find one and then tell them that I'm not available yet. I just don't want to ruin that first impression which is always the most important with a new employer. The plan is for me to work another year, pay down or completely pay off all of our debts other than the mortgage and then we'll easily live on Matt's salary. We could do it now if it weren't for silly debts that we've accrued. We weren't even trying to live like our parents. We were just trying to live like we were single. So it will most likely be back to a call center for me. I can handle that though. I made peace with it when I went to work at US Cellular. I didn't quit because I swore I'd never work in a call center. I quit because everything I did was affecting my husband even though it shouldn't have. And also because of some real confusion concerning short term disability, my asthma and the flu or whatever it was I had.
Over on the corgi forums, we had a girl and her husband who were looking for a corgi. They had their hearts set on a Pembroke. So we gave them links and references of breeders and rescue groups. Well she met a Cardigan breeder who contacted her about a rescue, but since the timing wasn't right she mentioned that she also breeds. The Cardigan puppy would be related to my cardigans, Kira and Connor. Their maternal grandmother and the puppy's grandmother would be the same dog. This breeder has a lot of Coedwig dogs and Kira and Connor have a lot of that kennel in their lineage. The annoying thing about it is that Pembrokes and Cardigans are vastly different in personality. Cardigans are very aloof with strangers and Pembrokes love on strangers. And this couple want a dog that will be similar to their LABRADOR RETRIEVERS from their childhoods. I do not understand why they do not then get a lab. They are now set on this breeder even though they have yet to meet the breeder or the dogs. Cardigans are a very hit or miss breed. You either really love their one person/one family aloofness or you want a more friendly and warmer dog. She comes to the forums looking for advice and yet doesn't heed any of it. I've told her that looking at the pedigrees our dogs will be related. I've told her that my dogs do not like strangers and bark and run away from new people, but she's determined that if they get one with a highly socialized temperament it will be fine. I'm sure it will. It's just kind of annoying that she won't heed advice and hasn't met ANY dogs yet, Pembroke or Cardigan.
In WoW, I got my Colbalt Talbuk Mount from the Mag'har. I also farmed up 100 war tokens and 20 reasearch tokens and got the Dark War Talbuk as well. We've been in Karazhan. So far we've gotten past Attumen and Nightmare, the Maiden of Virtue, the random animal boss, Moroes, The Opera Event, the Curator, and the chess event. I went resto for it, but I'm back to feral so that our group can get our rep for our keys. I make an awesome druid tank at 15K armor and 11-13K health depending on my food buff. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, there's mutiny among the ranks because they haven't been invited to Karazhan. One guy in particular is making a huge stink. I'm with our officer who only has one nerve, KICK HIM! He's annoying. He wants a democracy where we all vote to see who goes into Karazhan. If he would wait 2 weeks, we should be able to get two groups going through. We're teaching officers the strats right now. But no, he thinks we're making secret decisions without everyone else. Well truthfully we did. There are 25 man raids now. We don't have room for 40 people to go. So long before the expansion came out, we decided who could be relied on for the 25 man raids. It was based on willingness to give up personal/real life time in to progress through the game. There's been a lot of finger pointing at the officers and leaders that they aren't working with the rest of the guild in mind. These same leaders rolled paladins from 1 to 70 to get into Karazhan last Sunday so we would have paladins. I just wish someone would honestly smack this guy down. Tell him the truth and make him go away cause he's giving me a headache. But it won't happen. And eventually he'll gquit on his own.
I'm still waiting on my new Tobymac CD. I've already listened to it on Napster. Hopefully it is sitting out in the mailbox.
Still working out and losing weight, but I gained some back last week. That's really frustrating. But I'm sticking with it.
I bought One Night with the King. That's a really great movie. I was surprised to see James Callis in it. He played a suberb Haman. And sadly, I watched the entire movie and never realized Jonathan Rhys-Davies was in it until my mom mentioned it. Doh! I really enjoyed the Peter O'Toole Samuel the Prophet. He had me convinced that he struck down Agag the king. The name Hadassah is really growing on me. I think it's pretty.
Well I'm going out of town this weekend. Going to a bed and a breakfast. I have to leave here at 7:30 in the morning! It's supposed to be a relaxing weekend. I hope it is once we get there.

Date: 2007-02-23 09:55 pm (UTC)I'll bet their "ideal" dog would be a "mini" lab. (I don't guess there is any such thing.) We love our golden so much, but I just wish he weren't so freaking big. I want a dog that doesn't take up a whole couch cushion. My husband thinks he wants a border collie because they are smaller, and they obey better than our poor Dusty. I grew up with border collies. They are snobs, which is NOT a trait my husband will appreciate. Those people are probably looking for something "smaller" without considering that different breeds have different personalities.

Date: 2007-02-23 10:18 pm (UTC)I wish I could discount her like that so easily. But she's doing tons of research and asking the questions. I just posted a HUGE reply to her again. She needs to MEET the breed so she can get a solid idea of what to expect. Which is funny. I never met either breed. But I knew I'd like them both. It wasn't a big deal to me because I wasn't trying to fill some precieved notion of what a dog should be like. I just wanted a furry companion.
Dusty is adorable! I wanted a Golden, but decided a golden and a german shepherd might be too much for this little house. And now I have three dogs. Sheesh. Still it's more love to share rather than just one big dog so it probably worked out for the best. Yeah the border collies I see at the dog park are definitely snobs. They only have eyes for their owners much like the shelties. That's a huge step to go from a sweet golden to a border collie. If you really want something smaller, there's always Pembroke Welsh Corgis! lol
It's funny that you should mention the different breed thing. That could be it. Cardigan Welsh Corgis and Pembroke Welsh Corgis are really a lot more different than their names might imply. And she was doing all of her research on the latter.
