HMMM...I don't know if you really can prove it in the scientific sense. I like to believe that there is evidence of God, but I have never seen God in the literal sense. I guess it depends on your definition of "prove". I can prove that God exists as far as I'm concerned, but would it hold up in an argument? Know what I mean? Proof to me doesn't necessarily mean proof to the next person.
Your question makes me think of that scene in Contact, when Jodie Foster's character is talking about needing proof that God exists, and Matthew McConaughy asks her if she loved her deceased father. When she says yes, he says "prove it". I don't know if you can prove it in the empirical sense - it's something that resides within your heart.
Long story short - I can't prove it, but I believe it.

I was curious to see who might respond. I'm really big in Apologetics and this was an idea that popped into my head. Someone saying to prove his exists. I would like to challenge that person to change roles. I'll prove He doesn't exist if they will prove He does.
One of the big arguments that I hear and believed myself was that if God is love, then why does he allow suffering? And since there is suffering, there isn't a God. If God truly were a father, he wouldn't send his children to hell.
All interesting arguments, but all bogged down in earthly thinking. I love that one "if God were truly a father" since God is the original father, but that's getting ahead of the logical process.
I was thinking about the whole if God existed, there wouldn't be suffering argument on the way to work. If we think about it in God's point of view instead of from our point of view. You're a mom, there are moments that your children have to learn consequences. You'd like to prevent that, but you know that wouldn't learn if they didn't have consequences. Same with God. For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Sounds familar, huh? We wouldn't learn anything if we didn't suffer.
Just some thoughts I wanted to throw out into the void of the interweb! Thanks for responding. :)

You cannot prove God exists. I cannot prove we came from monkeys. Because no matter what kind of evidence we have, it will not be good enough for EVERYONE. It might be good enough for a person, or a group of people, but unless everyone witnesses or experiences something for themselves, they ain't buying it.
All you can do is pick which works best for you, except it as your truth, and try not to be a huge asshole to people who don't feel like believing what you do.
I think more people need to work on the "not being a huge asshole" part, though.

Besides not only do you have people who it's not good enough. But you have people who don't care. They'd prefer to push those thoughts to the back of their minds. But it still bothers them.
