An update on my friend
Tuesday, November 15th, 2005 10:30 pmMy friends who were able to take off work went down to visit him. No broken legs. A shattered wrist which required a plate. No more easy airport visits.
This is so upsetting! I was working out at 12:30. I was on my way home at 1 am! This friend's home is viewable from my backyard. The intersection described in the report is the light I took on my way home.
My friend's initials are C.R.Y. A woman asked me the end date for her contract, all three phone agreements ended 1/26 which is my friend's birthday.
I'll be heading to the hospital tomorrow to visit with him. It will be early morning for me. Morning for normal people on normal schedules. A lot of my friends have kindly thought of me and my wedding during this time. Wondering why he'd pick this time. The comments haven't been to the point of "How rude of him!" but more wonderments of why he didn't wait another week. I appreciate those sentiments. It is very sweet of you to think of me, but I do understand at least a little of what our friend feels. Thank you for your concern. Luckily I'm no Bridezilla and I'm more concerned about the well being of our friend. The wedding will be fine, maybe a little more somber, but fine.
We live in a small town. It's not an extremely small town. But our graduating class was 320 people. I knew almost all of them. Not personally, but I knew who they were. I'm a small to medium sized gal and this kind of thing affects my community.
That's all I have to say about that right now.

Oak Ridge police officers, firefighters and ambulance personnel were all sent to an area of Oak Ridge Turnpike near Jefferson Avenue early this morning for what police describe as an attempted suicide.
Police Capt. Alan Massengill said an Oak Ridge man allegedly told his family he was going to take his life and shortly after 1 a.m. he allegedly walked out in front of a tractor-trailer truck.
Massengill said officers were already in the area looking for the man and actually heard the noise of the impact.
The man was taken by the Anderson County Emergency Medical Service to the University of Tennessee Medical Center at Knoxville.
UT hospital spokeswoman Lisa McNeal said the man is in stable condition in a regular room at UT hospital.
Massengill said the man did not sustain life-threatening injuries.
No other information was available at press time because reports were not complete.

Date: 2005-11-16 04:55 am (UTC)I come from a town that's not so small, but I've had 3 people I knew kill themselves. One of whom had several attempts. So, I kind of know what you're going through...
I don't know. I still never say the right thing in these kinds of situations.

Date: 2005-11-16 03:57 pm (UTC)It's so frustrating. We can't control someone's actions, and when they make a poor decision, you just want to shake them and scream, "I love you, isn't that enough?"
All of the personal anxiety and tension felt every day seems so small because it's something that we can control to a point. When something like this happens out of our control, it makes us feel so small and selfish for worrying over ourselves. At least that's how I feel.

Date: 2005-11-30 03:55 am (UTC)It's why I play a Paladin in WoW. I want to be the one rushing into battle so that my loved ones don't have to fight. I'll be their champion. I'll fight for them. So letting go of that was like changing my personality. I think I have come a great long way from that. I hope.
I don't really feel selffish, but at the same time I do. Does that make sense?
