Doom n - 1. Inevitable destruction or ruin. 2. Fate, especially a tragic or ruinous one. 3. A decision or judgment, especially an official condemnation to a severe penalty. 4. Judgment Day. 5. A statute or ordinance, especially one in force in Anglo-Saxon England.

This being said, some things I heard in the theatre: "It's so violent," one lady screamed and screamed and screamed during an attack scene, and other such moments of the audience's shock. I honestly can't imagine what these people came to the movie to see. It's a FIRST PERSON SHOOTER, people! Remember when people petitioned Congress to have these games banned and ended up with getting games rated instead? Remember that? Yeah, this game on which the movie based on is one of thoese reasons. It's violent and graphic.. and get this: NO HAPPY ENDING!! What?! How could you have a movie like that? I'm told just think Aliens and Predator, though I honestly can't say I enjoyed those movies or that I've even seen all of them! *gasp*

Soapbox aside, I enjoyed this movie. My favorite part is when the movie goes into literal first person shooter mode. It had the awesome music, the goons popping up every where. The BFG not 9000, but 3.1 appeared! And thankfully, the Rock called it by it's proper name. It's not the Bio-Feed Gun. It's the Big F***ing Gun! And it was awesome in the movie. Truly a BFG!

My only complaint was that there weren't enough demons. The reason for that being that the basis for the monsters weren't that they were demon spawn from hell coming through a portal. Instead there was a blood born mutagen that would change DNA. If you were good, you became a super human, super hero. If you were bad, you turned into a mutilated monster. This led to not enough freaky monsters as seen in the game. I wanted more of those freaky monsters in the game. More on-screen time for those freaky monsters in the movie. And more of the freaky sounds when you knew which monster you were about to face. Still I enjoyed it for what it was: a shoot 'em up movie based on a shoot 'em up game.

The best game turned into a movie? I've heard that, but I won't agree with it. It was good definitely. It ranks right up there. But there was more that I recognized in Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat 2 from the game than I did in this movie. Besides both Raydens made it tough for me to decide which I liked better. Still I don't know that I would discount Doom for not having more that I recognized. I had a great time.

And today's movie will be Dreamer. I've heard good things about that one.
