Oh the pain and agony.
Friday, November 5th, 2004 02:03 amIt makes me sick to read a Bush supporter write about Kerry and Edwards "The fact that the two of you took the lose on your feet still wishing the best for this country and for the people who didn't vote for you. That's something every single last person on earth should admire. It was the most generous display of goodwill I've ever seen." My heart still bleeds for the loss. To watch two people that admire and wanted to see as President... no, I still can't even go there. It just hurts too much to come to that realization.
No Retreat, baby, no surrender!!!!
I think it's time to revisit protest songs of the 60's and 70's. Buffalo Springfield, Marvin Gaye, Barry McGuire. I was listening to Morrissey this morning and thought that it really resounded my own feelings on the matter.
And as I attempted to visit his site to find the lyrics, I was greeted with this cached version from October 27th October 27, 2004
With all my heart I urge people to vote against George Bush. Jon Stewart would be ideal, but John Kerry is the logical and sane move. It does not need to be said yet again, but Bush has single-handedly turned the United States into the most neurotic and terror-obsessed country on the planet. For non-Americans, the United States is suddenly not a very nice place to visit because US immigration officers – under the rules of Bush – now conduct themselves with all the charm and unanswerable indignation of Hitler’s SS.
Please bring sanity and intelligence back to the United States.
Don’t forget to vote.
Vote for John Kerry and get rid of George Bush! Amen, Morrissey.
Listen to Irish Blood, English Heart and tell me that doesn't make you feel the same way about our great US of A.
I don't see Clinton winning in 2008. And I read something interesting about McCain--why would the Republicans bother with the moderates when they're doing so great with the insane ones. Interestingly McCain wants nothing to do with Bush's new administration...or whatever administration. I think McCain flatters himself if he thinks Bush would even want him now that he has the votes. And how did Bush win? He discovered back when he was campaigning for Daddy that whoever took the conservative religious vote, they could win. And he went on to become governor and pull an amazing reelection win out of his ass.
There's something happening here.
