The Debate

basildestinyAlrighty, folks! I watched the first part of the debate this morning before work. First of all, Kerry was great. He wasn't being steamrolled at all. I love this moderator. He didn't let Bush interupt after every question he didn't get to have the last word on. I think that is so much more fair.
A couple of things though. Did Bush laugh at Kerry's suggestion that the nation should have access to the same healthcare that senators have access to? The President said that the government could not afford to pay for that and then he laughed! WTF? That's not funny! A logical, educated person, like say John McCain would have said "Senator Kerry, you have a good idea, but it is not possible to pay for what you suggest." And that person wouldn't laugh at the notion. I feel as though the President thinks I'm a joke. Luckily enough I am on the same healthcare as John Kerry (Blue Cross Blue Shield). But it hasn't always been that way.
I also liked the President's little speech about what he says to people whose jobs are going overseas. He's going to give me money so that I can go back to school and learn the skills of the 21st century??? Really! Whoa. I thought working on a computer was a skill of the 21st century and yet my last job has gone to Manilla and India. I'm not married and I don't kids either so I guess I'm on my own as far as acquiring these skills, huh? Thanks, Mr President! Love ya!
He's such a liar. I can't wait to see the rest of it because I really enjoyed what I saw so far of Kerry's performance. Even if I completely disagree with that whole sanctity of marriage bit. Marriage is legal not holy or sacred. It should be decided by the courts. But I am glad that Kerry said it wasn't a choice. Though that mention of Cheney's daughter seemed just slightly dirty. Still he's much cleaner by a long shot than Bush.
