Saturday, August 28th, 2004 06:35 amWell first of all, thank you to everyone who congratulated me on my new job. I tried to update yesterday and it got lost in the world wide interweb to that crafty foe: Page Cannot Be Displayed.
It was a political rant which I'm sure most at least one of you would not have wanted to read. Possibly more since my Friends' list is comprised of several countries including Finland, Canada, and England. Not to mention several people in the States here who are too young to vote. I'm sorry, gals, but soon. Very soon. Continuing with the politics for a minute (I haven't caught up with my news in several days) I have turned into a C-SPAN junkie. I'm constantly checking the listings to see if there is anything of interest on there. I fear I may have to torture myself with watching the Green Party's Vice Presidential Nominee talk for an hour. The part that I listened to yesterday were just insane. He was really doing a dis-service to the American People. I felt that way anyhow. He was twisting truths and misinforming people. The host was just giving him a chance to speak. I'd appreciate a more hard hitting host. Not someone that spoke over him, but someone who requested examples or something more concrete or at least corrected him on the facts. One thing he said was that Kerry should apologize to the Vietnamese people and stop being so proud of medals he won for killing a kid. If I'm not mistaken in 1971, John Kerry sat in front of a Congressional Hearing and gave Testimony to the horrors he witnessed in Vietnam and urged the Senators to do what they could to get the United States out of that war ASAP. I do believe I may have found something that I disagree with my candidate on. A small thing, but I'm not certain so I'm asking if anyone knows the answer please let me know. Why did Kerry and Edwards vote against the Laci and Connor Law? Was it the partial abortion concerns? I hope there was more to it.
I found it interesting that Senator Bob Kerrey is all for a national ID card. He gave some very convincing arguments and I believe that I side with him now. Very, very forward thinking Democrat that man is. Interesting ideas.
As for my job, I'll be working at US Cellular as a customer service representative. It's a really up place. They have a gym and a track so I've heard. So that means that I love you all, but I won't be online anymore. :( I don't really know what else to say about that so I'll field any questions you might have.
Oh! We went walking on Thursday night. I saw the coolest dog! A Landseer. This lady was walking this dog. It looked like she had a miniature cow on a leash. His name was Lance and he was just the softest thing ever. Landseer is actually a color of Newfoundland which was debated as being a different breed.
I bought some new fish. Four Black Mollies and Two Red Swordtails. They look great in my tank. I'm so excited.
You know what's funny? I don't really know what to say about myself. I could write for hours and hours about politics and what's going on and the consequences, but if you want me to write about myself it's just not as interesting. I can't get excited about my daily activity the way I can about my plans and my opinions. I just got finished watching Max Cleland introduce John Kerry at the DNC. Very good stuff. Band Brothers by Springstein was a very nice touch indeed. Well I suppose the song is actually called "No Surrender." Either way I liked it. And Edwards is just really so adorable.
No retreat, no surrender.

ETA: Here's a Bushism for you. Bill Frist is a republican senator from Tennessee. "I want to thank my friend, Sen. Bill Frist, for joining us today. … He married a Texas girl, I want you to know. (Laughter.) Karyn is with us. A West Texas girl, just like me."—Nashville, Tenn., May 27, 2004

Date: 2004-08-28 09:10 am (UTC)That's me as well. I suppose I don't figure people care about the ins and outs of my daily existance, and the truth is that 99.9% of them don't. It's an odd thing, how LJ can turn from being a place to chatter to being a place where you feel like you have to sell yourself, or somehow find acceptance.

Date: 2004-08-28 09:42 am (UTC)Now that I've really rambled, I'll say that my LJ has always been a place to ramble and chatter. It's a catharsis.
I wish I were more long-winded. ;)

Date: 2004-08-28 04:16 pm (UTC)Glad to have you on the friends list. Now I won't have to check every Speed comment to make sure you still exist. Not that I can resist any topic made to that community. I'm such an addict...a junkie is more like it.

Date: 2004-08-28 06:10 pm (UTC)Ooo! Betas! I read your last LJ entry. Kittens.
I love gouramis though. They have such great personalities. I miss having a betta. I think I'll get another one for my tanks. Maybe tomorrow. I have a 29 gallon and a 10 gallon. The 29 has 6 long-finned leopard danios, 4 black mollies (2 pair), a pair of red swordtails and a plecostomus. The 10 gallon has 4 black skirted tetras. That's cool to be able to talk about fish though. Some of my friends are scared of fish. lol
