LOL WoW Rules
Monday, January 2nd, 2006 08:35 pmI've been lurking in the WoW forums lately as I don't have much activity on the flist lately.
There are some silly rules. For example, people don't like the emote: "/spit" Well I don't see the big deal. As a Paladin, I never spit. My female Paladin wasn't going to go around projecting fluid from her mouth. However, I now play a big cow who shapeshifts into a bear, a lion, a seal, and a cheetah. She spits. I'm sure that she drools. She hangs out with two undead near corpses and another cow. I don't think it is a stretch at all to think that she would spit on the corpse of her enemy. But I'm reading all of these "rules of RP" that state it is rude to emote spit on people. I like to think of myself as an experience RPer, but I'm going to spit on people. That IS RPing. I suppose I could get create a macro for "kicks dirt on the body." I say as I digress.
Another funny topic is people getting all up on their high horses about what kind of sexual RPing is appropriate. Someone was offended by a player "making out" with their succubus and making a moaning sound and wrapping legs around their succubus. Someone else said that they would have reported the succubus lover so fast the succubus lover could have read by the light of the sparks created when they were booted. Others have defended SL, saying that SL's opponents must be Christians and that they aren't open-minded. I think it's just common courtesy. And I agree with the person who said that they didn't want to know about WoW sex channels. I pay $15 a month for this game. I don't want to have to read the garbage. Create a seperate channel for that. That's not RPing, it's a cry for attention. It doesn't need to be in the main channel. The only reason I think this could be ok in terms of rules of the world would be that it wasn't really done in a default channel. It was a private channel. Sort of. It's a popular one, but still private.
But enough with this whole "open mindedness" garbage. It isn't an issue of being open minded. I don't want to know about anyone's mating habits. Why should I be forced to read that while playing a video game? Or sitting a restaurant. There may be a time and a place for it. Try something a bit more private than a general chat channel. /rant
I'm really sleepy. I fell asleep at my mom's house yesterday. And I've been fighting to stay awake today.
