basildestiny: (Roundhouse)
Customers are really funny characters.

I have some new favorite lines.

I love it when they call in and say "Someone from your company called last night." And that's it. Nothing else. Just that line and silence. No account information, no name of the person who called in.

Another good one is when they call in and say "Yes, I have a question." Period. Nothing else. I have a question. And many times when I finally say something either what's your account number or what was your question. That will be the moment they interupt me to give a 10 minute story about whatever.

I would love to be sarcastic about it. (We've debated over whether or not "Sarcasm" is a company value. The current values are Customer Focus, Pride in our work, Respect for each other and the customer, Empowerment, Ethics and Diversity.) It's really not that I enjoy being rude, but that people need to just some manners sometimes. Phone etiquette. But I'm not empowered to teach the customer that.

I have also have a question. What is the air speed velocity of an unladen swallow?
