Monday, August 15th, 2005 09:09 pmDuhurrrrrrr! I just had a serious bout of verbal running off at the mouth. I called Order Processing and talked to someone I knew from the old days. And low and behold I could not keep quiet. I felt the need to innundate him with the old catch phrases that drove me crazy, but at the same time made me feel comfortable! I knew what sync at the NID meant. Check for sync and surf at the NID. Check the DSLAM. Roll a truck. Alas I sometimes miss those days. Or at least I miss being a "true" tech. Because really what kind of tech was I? Well possibly more of a tech than my dad and yet maybe not. I knew networking, he knows building.
Anyway, my apologies to Eric Knouff for having to listen to me reminisce about the days of yore. I really miss the one minute reboot time in which you could read a book. This whole "one moment while your minutes pull up" in which all of the hold time is on me is more stress than I thought. There aren't even any long holds for the DSG.
Le sigh! Maybe I need to try another call center or would that just be same stuff different day?
