When I'm Gone
Tuesday, January 17th, 2006 04:49 pmSo I was trying to avoid Eminem because he is pretty explicit, but I always loved him. And I can't say that I am now immune to the emotion in his songs. So I bought When I'm Gone. It doesn't fail me at all.
It has the same raw emotion Eminem. There he is being honest in his music. Showing us who he really is: A single dad struggling with mistakes he's made and things he's said to his daughter that he loves the most.
Of course, he just remarried Kim so ... But still. It's the music.
So listening to this, it occured to me how God is. It was another revelation. I was reading something on family.org last week and a line that stuck out to me was that love is the decision care about someone for the good which is in them. And I realized that my feeligns about Eminem and his music is the same. He may be explicit. He may have rapped about killing his ex-now again-wife, but he's a real guy. He's felt real emotions. He's torn by parenting decisions like anyone else. He's made mistakes, but he has good in him.
Something else that I was also thinking about was this whole gay controversy in the Christian community. I just want to put this out there. Regardless of how you feel about homosexuality, if that person believes Jesus is their savior, that person will be in Heaven with you. Their sins are no different than your own sins. All sin is the same to God regardless of the value that you assign it. Go back to His word if you don't believe it.
I heard a radio show that was discussing things like that are a possible why God might hate religion. And why relics may be so hard to find.
Unrelatedly, I am tired of my job. It makes me unhappy. I want to stay at home and get things in order. But I can't. There's an indefinite time frame that I will need to continue working here. I'd like some support either in continue working here or in finding another job. But I think it's up to me to figure out and fight for.
