I love this.

I was feeling down earlier this week. I was feeling like there was no way this country, these two Americans can ever be united again. That I would have to leave this country and find another country that holds beliefs similar to my own. That I was alone in my beliefs and feelings.

But I know that's not true. I know there are people who feel the same way that I feel. I was raised to have faith in my country. To believe that I could be what I want to be. That it is noble to stand up for what you believe.

Oh there's an interesting debate raging over on my journal! People keep reminding me of things I wanted to talk about in my post but I can't be bothered to add them. Let me just say: ANYONE BUT BUSH!

Haha! Good arguments! I need to learn to stand up and be more stubborn with my opinions instead of yeilding to save someone face. I like your points about Bush. He pretty much said that he didn't care what the UN did, he was going to war!

Well I don't want to offend anyone but I seriously don't understand how 50% of the population think this man is doing a good job when most of the world thinks he's an ASS!

Haha. It's that old American stubbornness. And it's also a lot of misinformation, miseducation, and misunderstanding of what's going on. The media really doesn't show the rest of the world being angry at us. The media doesn't show the dead soldiers coming home. It's easy to throw around the number 1000 plus soldiers dead and to say more died in September than August, etc, etc, but it really doesn't sink in without showing those caskets. People just think that we're doing the wrong thing. They forget that Bush said he didn't care what the UN said and that he said he wasn't going to give the inspectors anymore time. He built it all up himself. He's the one who freaked out about it and panicked the nation and so we gave him the power. If he hadn't gone all psycho on us, we would have said "Well let's allow the last inspectors to give us their results and see." But no. He whipped us into a frenzy and he got what he wanted. Er.. I just said a lot there. Sorry. >.

You know, I realized something else this morning - Another reason to come to Canada - gay marriages are legal here. XD

LOL Well I'm not gay so I don't have to worry about it, but I want my country to realize it's not a big deal. Like I said I may take you up on that one day, but for now I'm going to continue working toward reshaping our future.
