Friday, August 10th, 2007 02:57 pmSo the fangirling over VAs continues. I don't know what has sparked this. However, with anything that I get really excited and interested in, I am now head over heels in researching this.
I have three obsessions at the moment: Rob Paulsen (80s-90s cartoon Raphael, Pinky, Wakko, The Tick), Cam Clarke and Peter Cullen.
Growing up I had the biggest crush on Leonardo turtle. It was kind of one of those younger sister type crushes. You know where you like someone's older brother, but you will always be seen as the younger sister. I don't think I would even call that a romantic crush. I just thought he was cool. Kind of like all the boys who had a crush on Ally Sheedy in Short Circuit 2. She was just a nice person.
So now that I've got that confession out...
I've been looking up videos for the song "We Are One" on YouTube. And I discovered that Cam Clarke sang all of the different language versions! The girl that sang for Kiara also sings, but she has like 2 lines so I am less impressed. I listened to the French versions (French and French Canadian) and he doesn't 'slur' his words enough. The French aren't really big on anunciating every syllable. It just needs to sound pretty. It should sound flowy and flowery. I remember in French class we once went around the room trying to pronounce the word he which is "il." A lot of people wanted to say "Eel;" however, it is closer to "ill" or better yet just say the letters E-L in one second. Not Eeeee than ELlllll. Just E-L.
I found a Japanese one with lovely subtitles. I just like seeing how words are pronounced in Japanese. One day I will follow through and learn Japanese. I hear the speaking part isn't the hard part. It's reading the language. I need to bring my language library over. I am a bit of an entomology buff who has been slacking... lots! Plus I need to remember that "r" is "l" in Japanese. Always a tough one, especially when reading subtitles.
So in the guild lately, I've been throwing out Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I got a comment last night it was like Amoo (me) woke up one day and decided that she was a ninja turtle. I told him that was last raid and where had he been. I kept pulling things with my new macro that yells out "COW-A-BUNGA!" OH! And the saddest thing is that I just figured out last night that Cam Clarke sings the old cartoon theme song. I felt like an idiot for not recognizing it sooner. I wasn't always the best at voice recognition. Visually, I'm golden. But audio, I've been wrong so often that I stopped trusting myself. The funny thing is that I always thought it was unfair that Leonardo didn't say anything in the theme song. But now I think Cam was doing the voice for all of the turtles so in essense all of the turtles talking were him. Yikes! Talk about dense! Haha I know. I am waaaaaay too hard on myself. It's just so funny listening to it now, all I can hear IS Cam so I wonder how I ever missed that. I should also mention that my most amazingly awesome husband (which means that he is like other husbands, except he's made of awesome) would use his macro every time I pulled. His macro went something like this "TURTLE POWER!" and then he would use the /charge emote. Now just the fact that he's shouting turtle power in itself is pretty good. But top that off with the fact that he is a Male Blood Elf. That's right... his character IS Cam Clarke. So when he yells out charge, it's like an evil Leonardo. So much <333
I gotta roll guys. I'd love to sit here and think up something else to say, but I need to go find a turtle pet to equip in WoW!

ETA QQ only turtle for non-hunters is the orphan quest. QQ cuz I got the Pig on Amookumo. And I didn't even bother to finish it on my Cam Clarke Hunter. Oh well, at least the hunter can tame a turtle.
